Candy buffet tables are an all-time favorite party trend. They can add a special touch to any event, from weddings and birthday parties to first communions and work get-togethers. Follow these simple steps to create a spectacular candy buffet table that your guests will remember for years to come.
1 – Decide on a theme, color palette, and matching décor
Think about themes that match your location: a wedding table with a rustic touch for a barn or outdoor wedding, or maybe a more modern theme for an indoor venue. The sky’s the limit! The candy buffet table should coordinate with the rest of the decorations. For example, matching the flowers from other centerpieces with the flowers you’re using to decorate your candy buffet table will present as more cohesive and stylish.
2 – Include different categories of candy Choosing your candy is very important. Place bulk loose candy on display in pretty glass jars with a wide enough opening to allow your guests to use scoops to serve themselves.
Offer one or two pieces of individually packaged candy to each person as an elegant touch of sweetness. Adding other desserts such as cupcakes, cake pops, and macarons to your table design contributes an extra layer of texture and dimension.
3- Set up the table in different levels
Using different heights and shapes of glass jars will add an interesting, refined look to the table. It’s a good idea to set up the table with empty containers first to have a better picture of how the space will work before you start filling them with candy. Setting the jars at different elevations is key, using different items to give height to the table, such as acrylic risers or even old books for a vintage look. Trays, shorter containers, and flat surfaces can be used to display candy in the front of the table. Always go from the highest to lowest parts of your display when setting things up.
4- Figure out how much candy to order. Ordering your candy might seem tricky part, but don’t be nervous. Most candy is sold in 5 lb. bags, which equal 80 ounces. A good rule of thumb is to order about 8oz. per guest.
5- The final touches. Balance is extremely important. Work on each side of the table at the same time by placing jars and decorations on both sides as you’re designing. Take a step back and get a good look at the table from time to time to make sure you’re not overdoing it. It’s easy to get carried away with candy this beautiful, but sometimes less is more!
